(From Treasurer Beth Lewis)
Good afternoon, neighbors! I just wanted to repost this as we get ready to move into the new year! (I know, another long post from Beth!)
The good news is that Republic is keeping our rates the same as 2023 – YAY!
Also, just a reminder of a couple of tips that may help minimize “missed” pick ups or other questions.
First, to ensure the fastest response to your questions and concerns, and to guarantee that your requests are heard and not missed or lost, I’d like to respectfully request that all questions, comments, suggestions, and concerns about Republic, dues, or other financial issues be sent directly to me at pehoakentwood@gmail.com.
I would greatly appreciate if all future communications are sent via PEHOA’s email address (pehoakentwood@gmail.com). This actually helps you, as well, because with email, you have a “paper trail” to help keep us accountable for responding quickly and accurately to your concerns.
Republic’s rates for 2024 are as follows:
Trash service, including the Kent County servicing fee, will be $122.68 for the entire year, with pick-ups every Friday unless otherwise noted for holidays or weather events. As winter progresses, be aware that there may be other Fridays where it is simply not safe for their drivers to be out. If we have a large storm scheduled to pass through like we did Christmas weekend 2022, please understand that, to keep the drivers safe, they may not be able to pick up in our neighborhood in a timely fashion. If that is the case, they are not usually able to come back again before the next scheduled pick up date because they service many other neighborhoods besides ours. Please be kind and respectful of these very rare instances where they cannot service our neighborhood as normally scheduled.
Recycling service will be $88.00 for the year, with pick ups occurring every other Friday. The next pick up from the date of this post will be Friday, November 17th, and every other week thereafter.
Yard waste removal service will be $99.00 for the season, which begins the first Friday of April and ends the last Friday of November (this year on 11/24), with pick ups every Friday. The first yard waste pick up date is set for Friday, April 5, 2024, and the last pick up date will likely be Saturday, November 30th as Thanksgiving is on the 28th.
To ensure the best service possible for you, and to reduce the amount of missed pick up reports, we respectfully ask that you review the tips below:
The trash pick ups begin very early on Friday; the trucks are already rolling through the neighborhood by 7am. It’s best if you can put your bin out on Thursday evening so, no matter how early the trucks come, your trash is out and ready to be picked up.
The recycling trucks usually take most of the day to service all of their customers (Princeton Estates is not the only neighborhood serviced by Republic), and there have been plenty of times that our recycling wasn’t picked up until 5pm or even later. We suggest putting your recycling bin out on Thursday night and not putting it back until Saturday morning. That way, we can be sure that if your recycling was missed, it was missed and not just brought in too early.
As recycling happens every other week, I realize it can be easy to lose track of when it occurs. My solution was to put a reminder in my smart-phone’s calendar on Thursday evenings at 8pm every other week (set it as a recurring appointment), and then each Thursday before a recycling pick up, I get a notification about it so I don’t forget to put the recycling bin out. You can also do this on your computer or tablet.
If you pull your bins in on Saturday and they are still full, please fill out the Google form pinned to the top of the HOA page and we will ensure it is picked up as soon as we can.
If you have special or specific questions such as if they will pick up furniture, or if you have a lot of extra trash, please visit: https://www.republicservices.com/residents. Their website has most of the information you would need regarding pick up schedule, holiday schedules, and special requests. If you don’t find the answer there, please feel free to reach out to me via email at pehoakentwood@gmail.com and I will contact them directly for your answer.
If you move out of the neighborhood, an email letting us know your move date would be wonderful as we can then cancel the trash services timely and not pay for services that aren’t being used, as well as processing any refunds due you in a timely manner. If you are new to the neighborhood and would like more information about our HOA and the Republic services, please feel free to email us at the address above and we’ll be happy to answer your questions!
We continue to work closely with our representative at Republic to help provide the best possible service, but we always appreciate your help! Any feedback or suggestions are welcome!
Thank you for taking the time to read through this lengthy post, and as always, if you ever have questions or concerns about the HOA, Republic services, or other neighborhood issues, please reach out to me via pehoakentwood@gmail.com.
Thank you all so much for doing what you do to make this such a wonderful place to live!
